This week's advisory put focus on the news. Students spent the hour reading news articles from several daily newspapers via the newseum website. After they read several articles we had a group discussion about what was going on in the world. They needed to highlight important issues embedded in the story.
Students went to www.newseum.org and clicked on "Today's Front Pages." They read a mix of state, national, and international newspapers for study. Students chose two or three stories or interest to them and took some notes on them. Afterwards, we had a class discussion where students shared their stories and why they chose them. Students then took it a step further and discussed how they could act on their reactions to the story.
*Please see the Resources for Students tab for ways to keep up with the daily news.
